how to handle dispute over auto insurance claim

1. If your agent is not able to resolve this problem, obtain the name and telephone number of insurance company claims department. It’s usually an 800 number. Call and ask if they have a consumer complaint department? Most do. If so, talk to them because they are able to help. Do not hang up the specific name of the person with whom you spoke. (Note the person you spoke with key until you have finished your complaint).

2. Be prepared to support your case by sending a cover letter (see the individual who spoke with), all documents backing up position does.

3. All insurance companies have both an “Assessment Service” or “Arbitration Service” to help resolve differences and disputes. Your policy should explain these options. (If you can not find any of these questions your agent to find them for you)!

4. If you followed their rules to resolve the dispute, and you are still not satisfied, the state insurance department should be able to help.

5. When people heard of your own insurance company (so are not treated properly) you should call +942- 1800 4.242 (free Consumer Information Service) sponsored by the insurance industry.

Trained staff are available to consumers who have complaints to help. This help line is on the east coast, Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 8:00.

6. Also: an “independent referee”, who reported experience in insurance problems, to decide if what you said (or offered to resolve your claim) is fair. You can add the American Arbitration Association by calling 1 212 484-4000 or can be contacted (via Internet) a.

7. Mediation: In most cases the Ombudsman has no power to issue a binding decision or issue an award to either party. The mediator only recommends a solution.

Mediation is an important first step because it is a need for further cost both sides have felt. The first thing to do is check the language in your auto insurance, where magic will mediate (and / or referee) of a claim. You must submit an application for arbitration FORM that is included in your policy. On this issue for arbitration form, you can specify whether the “mediation” or “arbitration” want.

APPLICATION FOR ARBITRATION forms are available from your state insurance department, or you can print a copy of a request form from the website of the American Arbitration Association’s site – - which can be found (as I described at  6) on.

As you move along with the above you should never forget these two (A and B = low) facts:

A. Mediation is much cheaper than arbitration.

B. The decisions are considered only as a mediation board. But the arbitrators’ decisions are not binding!
